ASSITEJ International

Imagining all of this was wonderful, but experiencing it firsthand was indescribable. The children—the families—the artists—the performance spaces—the gardens—us right there in the middle: it was as if we were in another world, another space-time, far removed from so many of the difficult things we’re currently facing in the world.

Paulo Merisio, Member of the Executive Committee of ASSITEJ International

This year, the international message is “Staging the Rights of Children: Today, Every Day.” Within the Executive Committee, we have spoken about it extensively, always trying to ensure that our words reflect the global diversity of our network. Because this path can only be travelled together, through dialogue and inclusion. This message places at the centre our fundamental purpose: the rights of children — rights we celebrate today, but which we defend every day of the year.

Gonzalo Moreno, Member of the Executive Committee of ASSITEJ International

For the ASSITEJ community, the SHIFT certification and the Green Team work mean different resources. On our website, you can find our Sustainability Policy (I Am Because You Are) and our Sustainability working plan. These are guidelines to improve our activities regarding travel, communication, and events on the environmental level. They are also a credible track record of concrete actions to fund our commitment to become a more environmentally sustainable organisation, a more sustainable community.

Émilie Robert, Member of the Executive Committee of ASSITEJ International

The Babel project started nearly 4 years ago. Activities within the project have been implemented in 11 EU countries and 6 countries on all continents (Indonesia, Jordan, South Africa, Brazil, Cuba and Pakistan). Artists all around the world have met and worked together to perform, to discuss and to reflect on how linguistic and cultural differences are an asset not only in and for our community, but also for children and young people by listening and opening ourselves to them.

Yannick Boudeau, Member of the Executive Committee of ASSITEJ International
