LOLA FERNÁNDEZ DE SEVILLA WINNER OF THE VIII PRIZE JUAN CERVERA OF INVESTIGATION ON THEATER FOR THE CHILDHOOD AND YOUTH OF ASSITEJ-SPAIN

The work winner is “Ogres, Spinacas and others… How tell the terrible to girls and children in the theater”, by Lola Fernández de Seville.

The jury has decided to award the prize for the relevance of the subject and for the intellectual ambition with which it is addressed. The work demonstrates a wide knowledge of the theoretical framework of literature and the performing arts for children and youth, as well as the solvency of its author in the handling of an interdisciplinary bibliography.

The jury also stresses that the work encourages creative freedom by claiming the necessary inclusion, for both aesthetic and pedagogical reasons, of subjects considered habitually taboo in the performing arts for children and youth.

Lola Fernández de Sevilla (Madrid, 1982) is a playwright for RESAD and doctor in Philosophy by the University Complutense of Madrid. She has learned with playwrights as Martin Crimp, José Sanchis Sinisterra and Simon Stephens.

Her story "Cosas que hace Lucía" was awarded and published in 2012 by Les Filanderes de Langreo. She has written the novel "The strong women", and several dramatic texts that have been premiered in different spaces of Madrid.
