‘Next Generation’ Residencies

The residencies offer a specially curated professional development programme for a cohort of ‘Next Generation’ participants designed to support artistic and cultural networking, exchange, and collaboration at international festivals and other international events.

The first ‘Next Generation’ group met in Adelaide, Australia, during the 16th ASSITEJ World Congress and Performing Arts Festival for Children & Young People. Since then, there have been many cohorts of ‘Next Generation’ participants attending ASSITEJ International events all across the world:

“I was surprised at the extent to which we, the young artists, were involved in the festival programme and the ASSITEJ Artistic Gathering“, highlighted Bojana Babić from Serbia after her first ‘Next Generation’ Residency experience during springtime in Berlin. “We have received so much attention and, at the end of the festival, at a joint gathering with tea and cakes, we were told that the festival was grateful to us for ‘refreshing’ the whole festival. I visited several film festivals that have had a similar programme for young artists, but I never felt like I was taken as a serious and equal member of the team fighting for the same goal – for theatre for children to be the best theatre”.
