April 25–30 at Buçaquinho Environmental Park, Esmoriz

The literary gathering for younger readers – Invisible Giants – is back for its 11th edition. This is a festival where books grow and transform into theatre, music, dance, images, and many surprises. Through a performance or artistic act, we will discover stories and books full of imagination. At Invisible Giants, there are books to read, workshops to try, talks to listen to, and arts to create, all specially designed for children, accompanied by adults. These Giants have already traveled to Timor-Leste, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Guinea-Bissau, bringing stories and adventures to many places. Everything takes place at Buçaquinho Environmental Park.

On April 25, the program will feature the participation of the theatre company Kopinxas, Sara Aidos, author of the story In Afonso’s Suitcase, Débora Rocha, a digital content creator dedicated to promoting reading, and Pedro Giestas, an actor presenting his show The Father Who Became a Mother. Diana Carneiro presents Dance Me a Story, and Verdes Mundus brings a workshop to let our creativity take flight. From April 27 to 30, the program is aimed at schools in Ovar, where children will be able to take part in various activities.

Imaginar do Gigante is a creative structure dedicated to providing artistic and cultural services, with a main focus on contemporary performing arts for children and the publication of reading materials.

Our line of work explores new creative processes, from text to image, within the field of children’s theatrical aesthetics. We believe in the artistic laboratory for children and young adults as a space for researching an aesthetic capable of addressing the foundations of freedom—our greatest treasure—alongside imagination and growth through play.

We believe that the study of new hybrid and immersive modalities—whether aesthetic, environmental, or technological—can contribute to shaping what we call the “child of the future.”

The core team of Imaginar do Gigante has already worked with children and young people in various parts of Portugal, as well as in São Tomé and Príncipe, Mali, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, and other countries.

We provide a service of public interest, aiming to contribute to the improvement of the artistic education system and theatre training, bringing children closer to contemporary performing arts.

Imaginar do Gigante is supported by the Directorate-General for the Arts and is a member of the Descampado Artistas Associados network, Plateia – Association of Performing Arts Professionals, the Ibero-American Network, and ASSITEJ – International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People.
