🗓 20-25 April 2020 and beyond

BUZZ Network is a three-year project to cross-pollinate best practice in youth theatre across Europe. Run by partners BRONKS (Belgium), Youth Theatre Ireland (Ireland), Youth Theatre Arts Scotland (Scotland), Rogaland Teater (Norway), and Theater Bremen (Germany), the project is co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.

Throughout 2020 and 2021 the organisers will host seven multinational artist and cultural leader training labs in Scotland, Ireland, Norway, Belgium and Germany. The first Artists’ Lab, Co-creating and Empowering Young People, will take place at BRONKS in Brussels, 20-24 April 2020.

During the Artists’ Lab:

  • BRONKS theatre will be the central hub for Lab participants. There will also be visits to organisations across Flanders and Brussels who work in unique and inclusive ways with young people. The Lab Artists will gain insights into their work, methods and best practices via workshops, debates and presentations. (Organisations the Lab plans to visit include: Kopergietery (Ghent), Zinnema (Brussels), de Stroate (Kortrijk), Victoria deLuxe (Ghent).)
  • Lead Artist of the Lab will be Michaël Vandewalle. Michaël is a young but experienced director / theatre maker and playwright in Belgium, with a broad range of experience in working with children and young people as co-creators.
  • The programme will end with the opening of the XL-festival, where Lab Artists can witness and participate in the creativity of the young people who run this inspiring festival.
  • Travel and accommodation will be provided for participants based outside of Belgium, from 20-25 April 2020. (Participants from Belgium will receive local travel expenses).

Applications are open for artists from the European Union, and the Lab will select 2 artists from each of Scotland, Ireland, Germany and Norway; 4 artists from Belgium; and 5 from elsewhere in the European Union.
