(i) The third term of “Creative Activities for Children” programme offered by Somalatha Subasinghe Play House and ASSITEJ Sri Lanka is starting on 1st September,  2018.

The prime objective of the programme is to develop child’s mental and physical aspects and to enhance artistic taste, cheerfulness and playful sense of the child through aesthetic experiences.  The programme also gives the child the opportunity to learn a sense of caring, world awareness, experience in human relationship and socio cultural values, a sense of basic art forms and more importantly confidence and dignity.

The programme was initiated in 1981 by the Late Somalatha Subasinghe, the founder of ASSITEJ Sri Lanka and Lanka Children’s and Youth Theatre Foundation. Since then the programme is offered annually for children to get engaged in creative work. In schools children are focused solely on examinations and even aesthetic subjects have become examination oriented. These programmes are tailor made to provide them with completely a different and enjoyable learning experience. 

(2) Somalatha Subasinghe Play House and ASSITEJ Sri Lanka successful completed their annual theatre festival for children and Youth from 9th to 12th August. The next one will be in Deccember this year. Both festivals are during school vacation.
(3) From September Somalatha Subasinghe Play House travel to schools around the country to perform dramas for school children.
