The annual theatre festival during school vacation in August this year for children and youth Organised
jointly by Somalatha Subasinghe Play House and ASSITEJ Sri Lanka Centre is on the way. This time the
festival will feature four plays in four days. All time popular play for youth, “Vikurthi” (Distortion) written
and directed by the late Somalatha Subasinghe will be on board during the festival. The play is running
continuously for 36 years. The play is one of the prescribed texts for Drama and Theatre studies for
Grade 11 national curriculum. More details of the theatre festival will be followed soon.
Plans are on the way to invite a few foreign productions to the festival to make it international.
