19th International Theatre Festival Rainbow

in St. Petersburg, Russia

May 29 – June 4, 2018

 

The first festival Raduga (Rainbow) was held in 1999. Being established and held by the St. Petersburg Bryantsev Theatre for Young Spectators it was founded by the Russian Ministry of Culture, Theatre Union of Russia, ASSITEJ Russia, and the Government of St.Petersburg. 

The Festival concept is New Theatre for New Generation of Spectators!

The purpose of the Rainbow is search for the contemporary theatre for young people, as well as directors, working with new theatrical forms, responsible to current mood. Idea of the festival is to position the arts for young audiences as a highly artistic one. During its history the Rainbow presented the works of the best theatre makers from all over the world. Among them were Philippe Genty, Oskaras Koršunovas, Dmitry Krymov, Grzegorz Jarzyna, Rimas Tuminas, Elmo Nüganen, Krzysztof Warlikowski, and many others prominent masters, as well as very young newcomers.  

Participation (general) terms (all the other is a subject for negotiation with each theatre group):

The Festival provides:

– Visa support, accommodation (up to 25 people), meals (breakfast at the hotel, lunch and dinner at the theatre canteen) for 3 days;

– Free admission to the festival performances and special events;

Traveling and sets/props transportation are at the expenses of the participating company;

The Festival invites the leaders of the theatres/theatre groups (up to 2 persons from the company) for the entire festival period providing them accommodation, meals and free admission to the festival events.

The Festival invites professional theatre productions from Russia and abroad to participate. Please, take in consideration, that festival organizers are interested in works that reflect the profound search in creation productions for youth, but not for children.
