For the first time in Nepal, a professional play for early childhood has been staged in a theatre. The play ‘A Sweet Apple’, initiated by ASSITEJ Nepal and presented by Theatre Centre for Children Nepal, has been presented regularly at Mandala Theatre. Although plays are sometimes staged for older children in Nepal, this is the first time that professional actors have staged a children’s play specifically for this age group. ‘A Sweet Apple’ had its world premiere at Wanderlust-Mongolia and has been shown 36 times in Nepal, with about 6,000 Nepali children having experienced it. The second phase of this play is being prepared for a tour of many schools in Nepal.
