Wanderlust Mongolia 2026 was the first international touring theatre festival for children and youth in Mongolia, reaching more than 36,000 children across 18 soums and introducing many of them to live theatre for the very first time. The festival presented 14 productions from 8 countries, creating meaningful cultural exchange and inspiring new ideas among Mongolian artists and audiences. Sustainability was also one of the festival’s key goals, and for the first time we tried to integrate environmental awareness into both the artistic programme and the festival operations, in line with our theme of addressing climate change through Theatre for Young Audiences. Alongside eco‑themed performances, the festival carried out practical environmental actions such as CO₂ measurement, tree planting, waste sorting, and plastic recycling. Together, these efforts positioned Wanderlust Mongolia as a pioneering example in Mongolia of how cultural events can support climate awareness and promote environmentally responsible touring.
