Little Footprint Theatre is a vibrant new theatre ensemble taking bold steps to celebrate and empower young audiences. The Little Footprint Theatre is a group of passionate young artists working under Precious Children’s Arts Organisation (PICA) , Umkhathi Theatre Works, and ASSITEJ Zimbabwe. It is set  to host the first-ever Little Footprint Theatre Festival from 20–30 November 2025. The festival coincides with World Children’s Day and the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV). It highlights the importance of creating safe, nurturing, and inspiring spaces for children and young people through the performing arts.

During this 10-day celebration,  Little Footprint Theatre will tour local schools, inviting them to host one of four original Zimbabwean theatre productions:

  1. Sandscape Zimbabwe (Ages 4–8) – A silent, sensory performance celebrating nature and imagination through sand, rhythm, and movement.
  2. The Painted Kite (Ages 9–13) – A magical journey exploring friendship, bullying, and self-discovery, told through vibrant visuals and music.
  3. Dhiya (Ages 9–13) – A heartwarming intergenerational story between a grandfather and granddaughter that celebrates culture, storytelling, and memory.
  4. No Return (Ages 13+) – A gripping play addressing drug abuse, bullying, and mental health, encouraging young people to make positive life choices.

Each production invites children to reflect, engage, and dream—using theatre as a bridge between imagination and real-life issues. The festival also serves as a platform for young performers to develop their artistry and leadership while promoting theatre as a tool for empathy and education. Through this initiative Little Footprint Theatre aims to build a culture of theatre for young audiences in Zimbabwe, inspire collaboration, and shine a light on the stories that matter most to children.
