Baboró International Arts Festival for Children is Ireland’s flagship arts festival dedicated to children and families. Now in its 28th year, the 2024 festival will take place from Friday 11 October – Sunday 20 October in Galway Ireland. The full programme will be announced on Tuesday 3 September. For updates, please subscribe to Baboró’s newsletter.
Baboró champions every child’s right to experience and participate in the creative arts, and strives to present a festival programme where children see themselves and their stories reflected. The curated programme presents high-quality, engaging, thought-provoking work from the best makers around the world and around Ireland. It offers a range of genres, themes, and age ranges so there is something for everyone, including theatre, dance, puppetry, circus, visual art, literature, and digital work. Baboró takes children seriously and does not underestimate their capacity for understanding. The festival creates spaces that are safe, welcoming, and inclusive, no matter the physical or intellectual challenges.
The festival is a vital part of the national ecosystem of the children’s arts sector in Ireland. It is an important gathering place for artists and creatives to see inspiring work, broaden their network of peers and presenters, exchange ideas, and meet potential collaborators. Artists and industry professionals are invited to experience Baboró as a delegate by purchasing a Delegate Pass. This pass will give you access to delegate-only events, including works-in-progress, networking opportunities, and social evenings. Please note that performances, talks, and workshops in the festival programme must then be booked separately from the Pass.
Baboró looks forward to welcoming children, families, schools, artists, and industry professionals to Galway this October.
