February 2023 is the time when every Ukrainian looks back on the events of the year that brought the horror of Russian terrorism into our lives.

The artists of the theaters for young audience in Ukraine tirelessly make efforts so that the theater fills children’s lives with movement, thoughts, and interaction.

The repertoire of theaters is updated, and the interest in creating performances for the youngest unites artists. We continue to explore this topic and, in cooperation with the Lithuanian author of the method of creating performances for young children, Birute Baneviciute, will work together in the program of the online seminar “Performances for young children” from February 10 to March 3. We are grateful to the mentor of the project, the author of the methodology, for her sincere desire to help the theater makers whose work help families with babies during the war.

The program of the seminar involves introduction to the participants the basic principles of creating a performance that takes into account the age-related needs of the child’s development; exchange of experience; practical work on the development of materials for new performances. And it also has an important component: the book “Dance perception possibilities in early childhood” (The book combines methodology materials of Lithuanian choreographer and researcher Birute Baneviciute on early dance experience development in Ukrainian context). The book will be presented in the program of the Vilnius Book Fair (February 23 – 26 2023).
