The programme of performances, workshops and excursions was dense and reflected on the topic of “walls” – chosen not only because 2019 celebrates 30 years since the Berlin Wall came down, but because it proves relevant today. A visit to the Berlin Wall memorial at Bernauer Straße was included as well as the performance #BerlinBerlin by Theater Strahl.

ASSITEJ Germany will host a talk around walls with regard to collective memory, history and politics at the ASSITEJ Artistic Gathering in Kristiansand on September 5th. Everyone is welcome and you will meet Sina Ahlers, co-author of #BerlinBerlin, Brigitte Dethier, president of ASSITEJ Germany, Karen Giese, artistic team of Theater Strahl, Julia Dina Hesse, vice president of ASSITEJ Germany and Jutta M. Staerk, vice president of ASSITEJ Germany and part of the DIRECTORS IN TYA Team.

DIRECTORS IN TYA will take place again in 2021 at the Young State Theatre in Braunschweig. The call for applications will be published in May / June 2020.
