The 5th International festival for Children and Youth JĖGA/COOL! took place in Lithuania on the 2-6 October. It was organized by ASSITEJ Lithuania. This year’s festival was cheering children of North Lithuanian towns and villages. 26 performances were shown for different aged kids. Festival was held with the help of Šiauliai town municipality, cultural institutions and Šiauliai Drama Theater.
For this occasion, Drama Theater was decorated with playful accent, called «Eyes opened wide», made by artist Eglė Narbutaite.

So, theater became a happy creature, which called everyone passing by to come and enjoy some theater adventure.
15 troupes from Lithuania and 6 foreign troupes from Italy, Sweden, Poland, The Netherlands, Estonia and Finland participated in the festival. Children from babies to youth saw many different genres performances: circus, drama, documentary, puppets, dance. Children could participate in different educational activities. Seminars for youth and professional artists were held by theater practicians Raphael Rodan and Marta Nowicka. The forum of young theater critics was working during the festival, which was held by educator from Latvia Lauris Gundars.
On the 3-4 October, the Nordic-Baltic meeting took place, where representatives from Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania shared their experience and ideas.
The motto of the festival was «Break your net and take some fresh air.»
Other festivals of ASSITEJ will be held in other districts of Lithuania, that more children living in far regions would have an opportunity to see professional performances.
