From October 28 to November 6, 2017 the Theatre Festival for Children MARSHAK took place in Voronezh city for the third time. The organization and holding of this annual event, named after famous Russian author of children’s books Samuel Marshak, are managed by the board of International Platonov festival of Arts. As in previous years there were three sections in the festival’s program: Theatre for Children (productions by professional theatre companies); Theatre where Children Play (performances by children’s studios and schools), and Educational program with lectures, workshops and master-classes.

The opening performance of the MARSHAK 2017 was King Matiush after Janusz Korchak’s novelshown by Novosibirsk Globus Theatre with Polina Struzhkova’s direction. The festival’s playbill featured 20 productions in different genres and types offered by well-known theatres from Moscow, St Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Perm and Voronezh. Apart from Russian performances, the festival also presented foreign guests: Mikhail Chekhov Riga Theatre (Latvia), Petropavlovsk Puppet Theatre (Kazakhstan) and Dieserud/Lindgran (Norway). The Norwegian company brought Dragon–Zoo addressed to the youngest baby audiences.

Running in time of autumn school vacation MARSHAK became a bright festive event for Voronezh guys and theatre-goers, it was visited by more than fifteen thousand people.
