“HERITAGE NOW” was a two-day festival that celebrated and reflected upon the cultural heritage of Pakistan. The festival brought together professionals from Pakistan and various other countries to discuss pressing issues facing the museums and heritage sector in Pakistan through conversation, performance and art. “HERITAGE NOW” included panel discussions, academic paper presentations, exhibitions, crafts and performances, and art-based activities for children – providing an opportunity for people of all ages and interests to interact with tangible and intangible heritage of Pakistan. 

 

The British Council, Walled City of Lahore Authority, French Embassy in Pakistan, Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, UNESCO and Government of Pakistan National History & Literary Heritage Division presented “HERITAGE NOW” which was supported by U.S. Embassy Pakistan, European Union, University of the Punjab, Alhamra Arts Council Lahore, Luxus Grand Hotel, Alliance française Lahore and AFD. 

Assitej Pakistan curated four major performances in ‘HERITAGE NOW” conceiving it as an opportunity to showcase the rich heritage of Pakistan in performing arts to youth and children.

A performance of Sarsukh,Adnan Jahangir & Wahab Shah Dance company showing the history of cultural
civilization of Sub continent through dance performances.
– Sachal Music
Sachal Studio Orchestra presented traditional, contemporary & folk tunes of Pakistan music.
– Mughal-e- Funk
A major performance from well-known Sitar Player of Pakistan named ‘Rakae Jamil. He presented history
of Sub continent with musical performance
– LE CONCERT IMPROMPTU
An Instrumental musical performance from French Quintet Band France.
