The Friends of ASSITEJ have had a vital contribution to the strength of ASSITEJ – dedicating connections and money to assist one of our central programs (‘Next Generation Programme’).
Since its beginnings in 1965 ASSITEJ has changed but especially in the past four years, as we have been successful for the first time in international funding through the EU. With that funding, the work of the Association has expanded and we are now supporting a diverse range of funded programs until 2028.
The needs of our sector have also changed and we are responding with new ideas drawn from member reflection and feedback. One of the results is that the ‘Next Generation Programme’ has shifted to the ‘New Voices Fellowship’ – enabling us to expand our support of inclusion and diverse perspectives, into more areas of marginalisation.
The Friends of ASSITEJ program is limited currently to a one-off donation and we will be consulting with existing Friends and members to explore the ways it might become a continuous campaign, linked directly to the programs of ASSITEJ. Children and young people’s participation in ASSITEJ is still an under-served area of practice and we are hopeful that the Friends of ASSITEJ can shift towards support for this as focus for advocacy as well as in financial terms.
Thank you to all those who have been a Friend of ASSITEJ throughout the years!
