WELCOMES THE ARTISTIC GATHERING TO BIRMINGHAM 2 – 9 July 2016

It’s not long ‘til the ON THE EDGE festival team, partners and volunteers will be welcoming ASSITEJ to Birmingham for ON THE EDGE, the ASSITEJ Artistic Gathering 2016.

Birmingham is a great international city, the second largest in the UK. It has the youngest population of any European city and is one of the most culturally diverse in Britain. Birmingham is centrally located in the heart of England with excellent transport links, making it easy to get to by plane, train, car or coach.

Known as the ‘Workshop of the  World’ due to its industrial past, Birmingham is the home of Cadbury’s chocolate, has more canals than Venice,  more parks than any other European city and the largest public library in Europe. In the last 25 years the city centre has been transformed through cultural regeneration and boasts world class arts venues, a diverse retail offer and a host of hotels and restaurants to suit every budget.

The festival hub will be the Birmingham Repertory Theatre in Centenary Square and the Symposium Programme will be based at Birmingham City University’s brand new Parkside campus. The Social Programme will include mystery dining experiences, parties, networking events and trips.

ON THE EDGE has all the ingredients of a great Artistic Gathering; world class productions, an inspiring symposium, work in progress and a warm welcome to ASSITEJ members from around the world. Come and join us!
