ASSITEJ Cuba, with the support of the National Council of Performing Arts and the Faculty of Theatrical Arts (FAT) of the Higher Institute of Arts (ISA), invites researchers, playwrights, directors, critics, educators, students, and performing arts creators in general to participate in the first online gathering dedicated to reflection and exchange around theatre created for, with, and about adolescents.

Rationale
Adolescence is a pivotal stage of transformation, identity formation, and questioning of the world. Theatre aimed at this age group requires a particular sensitivity, ethics, and aesthetic – not merely to entertain, but to challenge, represent, and accompany them through their complex journey. This gathering emerges from the need to create a space for sharing research, debating creative experiences, and building bridges between academia and artistic practice, all with the shared goal of enriching and giving visibility to theatre for adolescents in Cuba and Ibero-America.
Objectives
- To foster an academic and creative space for exchange on playwriting, staging, and critical reception of theatre for adolescents.
- To share research findings and creative projects (completed or in progress) centred on this audience.
- To reflect on the poetics, aesthetics, and communication strategies specific to engaging adolescent audiences.
- To promote the creation of a collaborative network among researchers, institutions, and artists dedicated to this field.
Thematic Axes
Submissions may be aligned with one of the following lines of discussion:
- Playwriting for Adolescents: Text analysis, new writing, adaptations, and recurring themes.
- Staging and Visual Languages: Aesthetics, actor direction, use of technology, music, and stage design.
- Research and Reception: Audience studies, mediation strategies, community-based work experiences, and impact assessment.
- Pedagogy and Training: Theatre as an educational tool, audience development, and creative processes involving active adolescent participation.
Participation Modalities
- Paper Presentations: Research findings or reflective creative experiences (20 minute presentation).
- Lectures: Delivered by invited specialists.
