ASSITEJ Switzerland invites its members to meetings at irregular intervals. They serve to exchange views on relevant issues of everyday working life or to familiarise members with new working methods, groups and projects.

For the first time, such a meeting will take place together with the Swiss puppet theatre scene network (founded after the Swiss section of UNIMA had to cease its work for financial reasons): on 30 August 2025, as part of the Zürcher Theatre Spektakel. The occasion is the guest performance of the world-renowned Handspring Puppet Company from South Africa, which is making a guest appearance in Zurich with FAUSTUS IN AFRICA. The play has been restaged under the direction of William Kentridge, 30 years after his first invitation to the Theatre Spektakel.

In the video call with the founders Adrian Kohler and Basil Jones from the Handspring Puppet Company, we want to exchange views, experiences and visions on the topics: Togetherness and intergenerational change in the performing arts for young audiences, the relationship between continuity and reinvention in long-standing work, dealing with obstacles and resistance in artistic and cultural-political work, the significance of young audiences.

The meeting will conclude with a joint visit to the theatre.
