Between May 6th and 11th, the 6th National Gathering of TYA Practitioners took place in Fortaleza (Ceará). The event, promoted by the group Pavilhão da Magnólia, a member of CBTIJ/ASSITEJ Brasil, was attended by groups from Ceará such as Cia Prisma de Artes, Teatro Máquina, Trupe Motim, Comédia Cearense and Cia Ortaet. Guests from other states also took part: Ateliê do Gesto (Goiás), Cia. Circo de Bonecos (São Paulo) and Grupo Teca (Bahia).
The programme included shows, debates and a seminar. In this space, fundamental issues for the development of artistic practices aimed at children and young people were discussed, covering topics such as poetics, dramaturgies, reception, public policies and the formation of networks. The seminar was led by Professor Edneia Quintino – Tutti (IFCE), with the participation of debaters Wanderson Lana (Mato Grosso), Vicente Concilio (Santa Catarina), Dib Carneiro Neto (São Paulo) and Leidson Ferraz (Pernambuco). The latter two wrote reviews of the shows, which were published in a local newspaper.
Luciana Comin, president of CBTIJ/ASSITEJ Brasil, was invited to talk about our Association, its practices and networking, as well as the goals of her administration and the entry of new members, strengthening and expanding the territories in which it operates. During the event, the new CBTIJ/ASSITEJ Brasil Regional Branch was made official, with representation from the Pavilhão da Magnólia and Cia Prisma de Artes groups. This is the second Branch of CBTIJ/ASSITEJ Brasil in the Northeastern region.
In a week of fruitful debates and proposal-building, the participants drew up the Letter from Fortaleza, listing the current difficulties faced by theatremakers for young audiences and presenting proposals and demands for the State and the Municipality. We continue to stand firm, joining forces and building bridges.
