ASSITEJ International has four awards that each, in different ways, celebrate outstanding achievements and contributions to theatre and performing arts for young audiences locally, regionally, and globally.

The four awards are given every three years at the ASSITEJ World Congress and Performing Arts Festival for Children & Young People. The next ASSITEJ World Congress and Performing Arts Festival for Children & Young People will take place in Havana, Cuba from 24 May – 1 June 2024.

The ASSITEJ International Artistic Excellence Award is given to an individual or company for outstanding artistic achievement during the preceding three years.

The ASSITEJ International Lifetime Achievement Award is given for an outstanding body of work over time and a profound and lasting contribution as a practitioner of theatre and performing arts for children and young people.

The ASSITEJ International Inspirational Playwrights Award honours three inspirational playwrights. This award is sponsored and adjudicated by Write Local. Play Global. (WLPG), a Professional Network of ASSITEJ International.

The Geesche Wartemann Emerging Scholars Award is made in memory of Geesche Wartemann. The award is sponsored and adjudicated by the International Theatre for Young Audiences Research Network (ITYARN), a Professional Network of ASSITEJ International.
