Voices from a New World: Legacy and Innovation in the TYA
ITYARN, the International Theater Research Network for Young Audiences, is calling for proposals for the ITYARN event at the 21st ASSITEJ International World Congress and Festival of Performing Arts for Children and Youth in Havana, Cuba , from May 24 to June 1, 2024. The general theme of the Congress and the Festival is “Voices of a new world”.
ITYARN aims to advance critical research in the field of theater for young audiences (TYA) through the exchange and discussion around communications from scholars within and outside the field of TYA. We intend to bridge the gap between youth theater and adult theater, and between theory and practice, by discussing TYA from multiple historiographical and theoretical perspectives related to practice and changing material circumstances ( social, cultural, economic, ideological and political) in which the TYA is generated and perceived.
La conférence ITYARN se déroulera sur une journée pendant le congrès (date à confirmer). La conférence consistera en un discours d’ouverture et une session plénière le matin, suivis de 2 à 4 groupes de travail l’après-midi. Les communications doivent porter sur le thème de la conférence : Les voix d’un nouveau monde : Héritage et innovation dans le TYA. Elles peuvent s’inscrire dans diverses perspectives, telles que l’histoire et les contextes culturels, le patrimoine culturel immatériel, la décolonisation, les médias, l’esthétique et les formes d’art, les interventions sociales par le biais de l’art, la psychologie, les concepts théoriques de l’enfant et de l’enfance, les conditions sociales et économiques, la durabilité, la race et l’ethnicité, le genre, l’accessibilité, les capacités et l’orientation sexuelle. Les langues de la conférence sont l’anglais, l’espagnol et/ou le portugais. La session du matin sera traduite simultanément, les ateliers de l’après-midi seront en espagnol/portugais ou en anglais.
Accessibilité
Les contributeurs ayant des besoins d’accès sont encouragés à poser leur candidature et sont priés d’indiquer leurs besoins dans le formulaire de candidature. Après la sélection, les organisateurs communiqueront avec les candidats concernés afin de soutenir leur participation dans le cadre des capacités économiques.
Comment postuler ?
Les chercheurs doivent soumettre une proposition de 500 mots, un exemple de bibliographie et une biographie de 150 mots en anglais, espagnol ou portugais par courrier électronique en MSWord.doc ou MSWord.docx. Les propositions doivent comporter le nom, l’affiliation et l’adresse électronique dans le coin supérieur gauche. Selected articles will be considered for publication in the newspaper Ti-Uai-Ei (UNIRIO, ASSITEJ Brazil project), published in 3 languages (including the language of the author).

The deadline for submitting applications for the call for contributions is 25 October 2023.
Proposals will be reviewed by the ITYARN Board of Directors and decisions will be notified no later than November 20, 2023.
