We bring you some exciting news about the events that took place in January, as a result of ASSITEJ Serbia’s work from previous months, which are important for the period before us.

The very beginning of this year was marked by the signing of the Agreement placing the official headquarters of ASSITEJ Serbia in the Little Theater “Dusko Radovic” for the next three years, which includes the period of preparation for the ASSITEJ Artistic Gathering 2023 in Belgrade.

In late January, the members of ASSITEJ Serbia gathered for the first time at an electronic session of the annual Assembly, where they elected new members of the Executive Committee for the upcoming four years, covering the term from 2021 to 2024. We are convinced that the election brought a strong team of 7 members, representatives from institutional theaters and individual members.  Here they are: Diana Krzanic Tepavac, actress and drama pedagogue; Milena Depolo, playwright , screenwriter and Thetare “ Bosko Buha“dramaturg;  Milena Minja Bogavac, writer, dramaturg, theatre director, drama pedagogue, activist and culture worker; Jovana Rakic, choreographer, performer and contemporary dance educator for children & socially marginalized groups and individuals, Ph.D; Jovana Karaulic, producer, employed  at the  University of Art Belgrade – Faculty of Drama Art  as Teaching Assistant  in the Department for Management and Production in Theatre, Radio and Culture; Zorica Filipovic, employed at the Puppet Theater  Nis as the head of public relations and marketing; and Aleksandar Nikolić, theater and opera director, general manager of the Little Theater Dusko Radovic “, associate professor at the Institute for Artistic Play in Belgrade (Directing in Opera and Ballet).

We are happy to invite you to read the article The  Story of Postponing The End of the World to  get acquainted with the new initiative of young artists that is currently developing in our region with the full support of ASSITEJ Serbia. The first impulse for gathering  young  and recognized artists from the region was the Next Generation residency program „ Limitations & Challenges in Performing Arts for Children and Young People“  held in 2018 in Novi Sad, organized by ASSITEJ Serbia. Connected and inspired by this experience, a group of participants in this program created and launched the From the First Step platform, which will play an important role in organizing the Next Generation program in the frame of  the ASSITEJ Artistic Gathering  2023 in Serbia.

We invite you to inspect the Open call  for entries for participation in the competition programme of the 28th Subotica International Children’s Theatre Festival  19th – 24th September 2021. All types of theatre for children are represented at the festival, with selection priority being given to puppet theatre expression. Deadline 15th April 2021. http://www.lutfestsubotica.net/en/main-programme
