“Theatre for young audiences: Where tomorrow is made”. This is the title of the event through which the establishment of an ASSITEJ national centre for Cyprus will be officially announced. The event will take place on 28th September, on the roof of the CVAR Centre of Contemporary Arts in Nicosia. In a rather symbolic statement, our guests will have an amazing view of the world’s last divided capital city. Our guest speakers will include the Commissioner for the protection of children’s rights and the head of the Theatre Development Department of the Cyprus National Theatre.

This event will attempt to explore TYA’s role in a constantly changing world and present the first steps and aims of our national centre, which will be officially established later this year. Working towards this date, we have already had meetings with the majority of the TYA professionals on the island and have held fruitful discussions with ASSITEJ officials and other national centres around the globe. Eager to become members of this big family, we hope that ASSITEJ Cyprus will unite theatre professionals of the country to work towards a TYA which will contribute to a better future. A future without divided cities, divided countries or divided worlds…
