Find out about the results of the European project CreaSus (Sustainable business models for cultural and creative industries)
CreaSus is a project promoted by Fundación Banco Santander and co-financed by Creative Europe that seeks to promote the sustainable transformation of the cultural and creative industries in Europe. The project is being developed by a consortium of academic, cultural, innovation, and business entities from Belgium, Spain, Greece, Ireland, and Italy.
Since its launch in 2023, CreaSus has generated a system of indicators based on the European Sustainability Reporting Standards, from which a sustainability self-assessment tool for the cultural and creative sector was developed. The tool has been piloted by more than 80 cultural and creative organisations in several European countries, and its overall assessment has been very positive. Among other assessments, 97% of organisations indicated that the use of the self-assessment tool adds value to the organisation, and 88% would use it as a tool for periodic sustainability assessment.
Based on this initial tool, CreaSus has generated a series of products to facilitate the adoption of sustainability measures by the sector: a set of proposals for sustainable transformation, a financing toolkit, and sustainable business models. The proposals for sustainable transformation were also well received by the participating organisations: 89% indicated that they would probably implement several of them in their organisation.
CreaSus ends in September 2026, and several training activities, presentations of results, and project closure events are planned:
- Three webinars on the financing toolkit and sustainable business models on 14, 21, and 28 April
- A meeting on the project results in Madrid at the end of May
- A final project meeting in Brussels in September.
