Description
JK Opole Theatre is once again gearing up for the Showcase! It will be a review of our most interesting premieres of recent years. The event is a unique opportunity to see Opole’s performances in a short period of time, take part in panel discussions and get to know Polish artists.
The programme includes two performances that give voice to people who are overlooked in the broad discourse, i.e. ‘Four Good Reasons to Leave All of This Behind’, directed by Norbert Rakowski, and ‘A Manual for Cleaning Women’, directed by Olga Ciężkowska and based on Lucia Berlin’s short stories.
The Opole showcase also includes a classic of world drama – ‘Cat on a Hot Tin Roof’ by Tennessee Williams, directed by Radek Stępień. The review will also include a performance of ‘Institute’, based on the novel by Jakub Żulczyk, a play created by the Actors’ Initiatives Stage.
The programme will also include one of our international premieres, ‘I’m Nowhere / Desvanecimiento’, directed by Norbert Rakowski, realised as a co-production with Teatros del Canal in Madrid and the Divine Comedy Festival in Kraków.
In addition to the programme of theatrical events, there will also be meetings with the audience after the performances. We also invite you to two panel discussions, during which we will reflect on the shape of theatre in Europe and the directions of changes that can be proposed in the Polish theatre system.
