Description

International biennal Body – Object – Image

The biennial Les Giboulées is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Since 1976 in Strasbourg, the festival has borne witness to the tremendous transformation of the arts of contemporary puppetry. Today these practices still continue to multiply their definitions and surprise us with their inventivity. A theatre of materials, objects, figures or puppets, often connected to the arts of movement and image, it offers so many playing fields to explore.

Les Giboulées 2016 will be particularly rich in its numerous collaborative works, new pieces created in France and French premieres of international work. We will rediscover the great figures of the body-object relationship, Josef Nadj, Aurelien Bory and Claire Heggen, and will come across the latest developments of the pioneers of contemporary puppetry, Ulrike Quade, Gisèle Vienne, David Girondin Moab, Élise Vigneron, Éric Deniaud, Aurélie Morin, Patrick Sims and Catherine Sombsthay. We will lend ourselves to the perils of the unclassifiable shamanic rituals of Nick Steur, Vania Vaneau and of Tim Spooner.

Let yourself be led through this springtime ebullience. We are delighted and impatient to welcome you with an impromptu surprise that I will be preparing especially for the occasion.
