We are sad. Two major earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.7 and a magnitude of 7.6 in Turkey and Syria on February 6 created an unprecedented humanitarian tragedy. According to official figures, 41 thousand people lost their lives in Turkey and 5 thousand people in Syria.
As ASSITEJ Turkey Center, International Union of Children’s and Youth Theaters, we express our condolences to all our citizens and their relatives who passed away after the earthquake disaster.
We believe in the healing power of art and especially theater in overcoming the traumas and damages caused by the two great earthquakes. As ASSITEJ Turkey Center, we will be in solidarity with our stakeholders who make children’s and youth theaters in the region, and at the same time, we will contribute with the projects we will do in the process of psychological recovery of children and youth after the earthquake. We welcome suggestions from all our members.
