The Children’s and Youth Theatre Institute in Latvia.

 For the second time the Latvian Institute for Children and Youth Theatre (BUJTI) is organized a week-long laboratory of training and studies for young theater professionals in the frame of Valmiera Summer Theatre Festival. 

Young artists, students or recently graduated of all kinds of performing arts, also scenography, drama, choreography, cultural management or criticism of the theatre, who want to specialize in the Theatre for Young Audience, are invited to be participants. 

The program of the laboratory, which take place from the 2 to 8 of August 2021, consists of a practical and theoretical training, the training is based on in-depth research in child and youth psychology, and research about the specificities of the genre of the theatre for children and youth. Participants are also invited to develop their own performance ideas independently, with the possibility of realizing them at the festival. The annual Valmiera Summer Theater Festival https://www.valmierasfestivals.lv/en/about is based on works created specifically by local and internationally recognized artists from Germany, Australia, Estonia, UK. All shows are site specific, where Valmiera as a town serves as a background for original settings.
