On the 1st of June celebrating International Children’s day ASSITEJ Lithuania initiated a national campaign “Back to the live theatre!” seeking to open possibilities for children and youth to meet live theatre again after a long time of separation by screens. During the pandemic time and lockdown theatres ASSITEJ Lithuania members were keeping in touch with their audience and streaming performances online. Though most of the young audience were claiming they want to experience live theatre as virtual performances did not meet their needs fully.

ASSITEJ Lithuania national campaign united 13 members to show their performances for young audience for free in 7 regions of Lithuania, not only in big cities, but also in small villages. The program included drama, puppet, dance performances, circus, puppet and movement workshops, theatre excursions and creative labs for audience of 0-18 years. The campaign was supported by the local public, cultural institutions as well as business enterprises. The event was broadcasted on Lithuanian national TV and radio and in public media.

This national campaign is a part of the ASSITEJ Lithuania 20th anniversary programme. Started as a new initiative we plan to turn it into the annual traditional event.
