ASSITEJ Lebanon/Khayal together with a group of theater practitioners and organisations in Lebanon created the “Theatre Relief Group in Lebanon”,  in a state of emergency after the explosion that took place in the port of Beirut on August 4th, 2020.
The aim is to offer immediate and rapid support to  the theater community working in Lebanon that has been directly affected by the catastrophic explosion whether the damage is in the form of physical wounds, damage to homes or damage to theater working spaces.
They launched an imaginary performance “Beirut, No Show tonight”, every person who wants to support can purchase tickets online, to this performance that will not happen. It cannot happen. The proceeds, with the utmost transparency, will go toward helping theater practitioners who have been injured, who have lost their homes, and toward theater collectives that cannot sustain themselves as well as theater venues that have been damaged.

The event has passed but as it was imaginary, you can still support this initiative by purchasing tickets here.
