2018 has started with several members of ASSITEJ India showcasing their work internationally.
Tram Arts Trust (Mumbai/Delhi) performed A Bird’s Eye View at the Asia TYA Festival organized by ASSITEJ Japan, with performances at Toyooka and Tokyo. More info at http://www.tramarts.org/
Over the past two years, Early Years Theatre has caught the imagination of several Indian companies, with as many as 16 shows in the making. Started in 2015, ASSITEJ India collaborated with La Baracca (Bologna) to seed the idea of Early Years Theatre in India. Two master classes were facilitated in India by Roberto Frabetti, followed by production of two shows, Yeh Duniya Rangeen by I-entertainment (Delhi) and Chidiya, Udd! by Gillo Repertory Theatre (Mumbai). In 2017 Valeria Frabetti worked as a mentor for these new shows and finally both were staged at Visioni 2018 at Bologna in February. Coming up in March: ThinkArts (Kolkata) presents three artists from India, Pavel Paul, Sananda Mukhopadhyaya and Sanyukta Saha, sharing their new work for babies with audiences in Cardiff and Pontypridd from 5th to 7th March 2018. These pieces were developed under the guidance of Sarah Argent and Kevin Lewis as part of a ThinkArts and Theatr Iolo collaboration supported by British Council and Wales Arts International.
