Write Local Play Global is working with the festival organizers on a number of ‘playwright slams’.  These are not competitions, but rather playwrights reading 5-minute excerpts from one of their plays.  There will be slams connected to three of the ‘Focus Days’:

  • Saturday, May 20, 18h00-19h00 – “Theatre for Social Change” Day
  • Thursday, May 25, 18h00-19h00 – “Africa” Day
  • Friday, May 26, 18h00-19h00 – “Inclusive Arts” Day

We are looking for playwrights who have written plays about social change (for the May 20 slam) or who are from Africa (for the May 25 slam).  For the Inclusive arts slam, the play can be about any subject; however, the playwright must be a person with a disability.  Though the official language of ASSITEJ is English, playwrights should read in their first language.

If you are interested in any of these, and available at those times to read, please send the following – a five-minute excerpt of a play and a short biography to editors@writelocalplayglobal.org.  If your play is not in English or French, please also send a short description of the excerpt.

You may now browse the website in English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Arabic, or Russian by using the button on the top-right of the page.
